Blackout Blinds – Things to Consider When Choosing

A Blackout blind may be selected to help keep out the sun’s rays in a child’s bedroom or. They may enable you as parents to get some extra sleep if your child needs protecting form the sun’s rays.

These blinds are a must for those who need to work nights and need to sleep during the day.

There are five types to choose from which include Vertical, Roller, Roman, and Velux Type Roof Blinds (Skylight) and some Pleated Blinds.

Blackout Vertical Blinds

A great selection of finishes and colour to help you compliment your colour scheme is offered on our site. In addition the Midnight Range has Fire Retardant properties as does the Moiré Range. One point to bear in mind is that a small amount of light may seep through the vertical slats or vanes particularly if they are fitted to a recess window. Even if the blinds are fitted outside the window frame some light may still seep through the sides. You can limit this bay making sure the blinds over hang the window frame at least 75mm on both the sides and the top and bottom of the window if there is space to do so.

Blackout Roller Blinds

There are a number of fabrics to choose from which blackout properties have. The first thing you need to decide is whether you would like a pattern or a plain fabric. On the whole as these fabrics require special treatments to give special properties they can tend to be more expensive. But, they are very effective in keeping out the light. The only area that surrounds the edge of the blind may permit some light to enter the room.

Blackout Roman Blinds

Many Roman Blinds have the option of adding a Blackout lining on the reverse of the blind. By adding a blackout lining, this will improve the way the blind hang and the life of the blind.

Blackout Pleated Blinds

Blackout Pleated Blinds combine style with practicality. They can be used in a bedroom or conservatory that is used as an occasional guest room.

Keep the sun out of the loft with these blinds. They can also help keep the room cool as loft rooms tend to get very hot as the rooms are given additional lagging.
